Malley Industries began as a family business in 1979, but its roots actually go back many years before that. Company founder, the late A.J. Malley, was an entrepreneur at heart. He always had some kind of business venture on the go while working for the railroad.
A family vacation to Expo ’67 in Montreal found the family of four in less than desirable accommodations. Upon arriving back home, A.J. designed and built a truck camper in his basement. When spring came, he and his young son, Terry, had to dismantle the whole project to get it out of the house and then re-assembled it outside.
The first camper was eventually sold and another was built. Before long, there were orders for one after another. For many years, the business operated in a part time capacity out of a 24 x 44 foot garage in the family’s back yard.
In 1979, A.J., his wife Maudie, and son, Terry opened a small manufacturing facility in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, focusing on building truck caps, campers and doing van conversions for the recreational market.
Since then, the company has grown and broadened its scope of capabilities to include the manufacture of ambulances and other emergency vehicles, wheelchair accessible vehicles, design engineering and plastics manufacturing.
Bodyguard Composites, a division of Malley industries, has been producing composite van partitions and wall liners since 2015. Inspired by Malley's Emergency and Mobility vehicle business, Bodyguard products have been proven to withstand the rigors of 24/7 operations.
