QAP and FTQP Accreditation

In the fall of 2004, Malley Industries became the first Canadian company to be accredited in two quality programs for manufacturers carrying out modifications to vehicles for the adaptive mobility industry. The company attained accreditation in both the NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealer's Association's) QAP (Quality Assurance Program) and Ford Motor Company's FTQP (Ford Truck Quality Program).

The NMEDA QAP and Ford FTQP quality programs involve stringent third party audits that examine a company's adherence to North American-recognized standards for adaptive mobility vehicle modification. In addition to assessing manufacturers for compliance with the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, they scrutinize process controls, record keeping, testing, engineering standards, employee training and involvement, management practices and customer service that ensure the highest level of performance and safety. Those who perform structural modifications must certify that welding personnel and other technicians have been trained and tested for proficiency in the equipment they sell, install and service.

Malley Industries is Atlantic Canada's largest adaptive mobility installer/vehicle modifier for wheelchair lift and ramp installations, hand controls, wheelchair restraint systems, raised roof / raised door van modifications, lowered floor conversions, custom vehicle seating and high-tech driving aids.

'Individuals with physical challenges require specialized equipment to assist them with their daily transportation needs,' says Terry Malley, President of Malley Industries Inc. 'It is important for them to be dealing with companies that are committed to quality and equipment safety standards, particularly where structural modifications to vehicles are involved.'

Many adaptive mobility funding providers throughout North America view the QAP and FTQP as benchmark requirements for both personal-use and para-transit vehicle modifications because they recognize the value of programs that require adherence to stringent quality and safety standards.
