New Brunswick-based specialty vehicle manufacturer has an immediate opening for an Accountant/Controller.
As a growing manufacturer of ambulances, police and prisoner transportation vehicles, wheelchair accessible and other custom conversions, Malley Industries also has expanding international opportunities in component manufacturing.
We are seeking the services of an experienced financial professional who enjoys both the day-to-day challenges of a multi-faceted business yet has the expertise and vision to be part of the company’s growth and continued diversification.
Reporting to the President, the Accountant/Controller will be responsible for a wide range of financial management activities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company to include budgeting, tax planning, real estate, and conservation of assets.
- Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements.
- Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, and position control documents, department budgets, salary updates, ledger, and account maintenance and data entry.
- Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
- Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and internal auditing procedures.
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
- Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
- Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and auditing standards.
- Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems.
- Assist in obtaining the necessary licenses and insurance.
- Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas.
- Establish and implement short-and long-range financial goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Participate in planning and policy-making decisions.
- Oversee financial management of foreign operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures.
- Ongoing liaison with KPMG on matters pertaining to financial controls and stewardship.
- Liase with financial partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the company externally, where necessary, to government agencies and funding agencies.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate staff and work collaboratively with purchasing, inventory management and other key functional groups.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and Provincial financial regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
Completion of a degree in finance or accounting, professional accounting designation, with five or more years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, and a CA.
Proficiency with Syspro a definite asset.
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

As a manufacturer of specialty vehicles, including ambulances, prisoner transportation systems, commercial vehicles, wheelchair accessible conversions and other custom modifications for persons with physical challenges, Malley Industries has a wide range of mechanical design engineering challenges.
As the successful Mechanical Design Engineer you will have the following demonstrative knowledge and experience:
Responsibilities to include:
- Participate in brainstorming and design review meetings to develop and evaluate design solutions.
- Design vehicle modifications and components to produce emergency response vehicles, prisoner transportation systems, configurations for custom commercial vehicles and products for adaptive mobility conversions.
- Design mechanical components and assemblies in a wide range of materials including plastics and metal alloys.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis on mechanical models.
- Run design projects from initial concept stage through final shipment release.
- Review & update designs and drawings for Engineering Change Orders.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Teams and Quality Department to address and resolve product quality and process issues.
- Design test fixtures to assist with product verifications.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Mechanical or related engineering discipline
- Minimum of 5 years mechanical design related experience
- Recent experience with the design of automotive or automotive-related products.
- Strong process validation/process engineering experience
- Strong fundamental engineering skills
- Proven project management experience
- Must have knowledge of Inventor & Master-cam or related mechanical design & machining software
- Strong troubleshooting and problem analysis skills
- Electrical design skills seen as an advantage.
- Mid-to-high volume system design experience highly desired
- Instrumentation/power tools experience preferred
- Able to take direction and be a self-starter
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- A very high level of attention to detail
- An outstanding work ethic
