Inspection
Malley Industries manufactures a wide range of vehicle modifications and custom conversions. Before a vehicle enters our plant, a pre-inspection is carried out to ensure that new chassis are damage free upon acceptance. The condition of customer-owned vehicles scheduled for custom modification is also recorded.
Engineering, Planning and Design
With such diverse manufacturing expertise to draw from, we have the flexibility and capability to turn ideas into reality. Using the latest 3D CAD technology, detailed drawings of each conversion are prepared. These drawings help us meet the customer's exacting specifications. They also trigger a work order for the delivery of parts from outside suppliers as well as the manufacture of sub components created here in our plant.
Metal Fabrication
Following inspection, the first place most vehicles go to is our metal fabrication department. Before manufacturing begins, we remove interior components and other items to ensure that they are not damaged during production.
Other metal fabrication involves precision modifications such as lowered floors, raised roofs and doors to accommodate wheelchair lifts, side and rear entry wheelchair ramps, window installation and running boards. Additionally, doorsteps, brackets, fasteners and other components are custom manufactured to meet the unique requirements of our customers.
Automotive Painting
Our modern facility includes two paint booths where customer vehicles are sanded, masked and prepped before being painted. Customer-specific graphics will then be applied to ambulances, commercial vehicles and some adaptive mobility conversions.
Cabinetry and Woodworking
In the woodworking mill, experienced finish carpenters precisely cut and assemble cabinets and shelving units that will be installed in ambulances and other custom vehicle conversions such as emergency response vehicles, mobile offices, evidence collection and testing units, etc.
Cabinet configuration will depend on the customer's unique needs, keeping in mind the overall objective of maximizing storage space and efficiency of the cabinetry for the intended use. We have both the expertise and the flexibility to customize cabinetry to meet the customer's individual needs.
Electronics
In our automotive electronics department, attention to detail is critical. For ambulances and other emergency vehicles, coded wiring harnesses are manufactured to precise quality control standards.
Our electrical department also installs electrical components associated with wheelchair lifts, hand controls and other adaptive driving aids for the specific needs of persons with limited physical mobility.
Upholstery
Custom auto upholstery, ambulance squad benches, seat covers, headliners, safety nets and other upholstered components are among the many items that are hand made in our upholstery department.
This department is also involved in custom automobile interior finishing and other commercial projects.
Plastics
Thermo vacuum forming is the latest addition to the technical capabilities of the fabricators at Malley Industries. This process facilitates weight reduction of interior components, the creation of curved surfaces and the ability to shape upholstery fabrics thereby eliminating seams.
Quality Assurance
From the smallest component to the finished product, a steadfast commitment to quality assurance is the foundation on which every custom conversion is completed. Internal testing encompasses a wide range of activities, including center of gravity testing, flammability testing, as well as seat and seat belt retention systems testing.
Inventory Control
Our inventory area provides all departments with the parts and equipment needed for the vast array of specialty conversions we manufacture. Of the more than 6,000 parts in our inventory department, more than 200 are manufactured in our plant. We also stock a wide range of medical supplies.
